17 city schools still need clean up before resuming classes
The destruction on the school facilities and properties in the public elementary and secondary schools brought about by Typhoon Frank in the city amounted to P27 million. At present, there are still 17 schools that need to be cleaned of debris and mud.
In a report provided by Mrs. Febe Cang, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, to the office of Mayor Jerry Treñas, P8.66 million worth of books in the elementary schools was destroyed by flash floods. The damage on the text books in the secondary level amounted to P4.35 million; 134 units of computers amounting to P6 million; infrastructures P7 million and electrical facilities P1 million.
Department of Education also reported that 17 elementary and secondary schools in the city still need to be cleaned up of debris and mud before they could resume their classes next week.
The elementary schools that still need clean up are: NJ Ingore, Cubay, Jaro I and Jaro II, L. Mirasol, A. Celis, GL Jaena, Sambag, Balantang, Buntatala, Tabucan, A. Mirasol, Bakhaw, Bolilao, and national high schools of Mandurriao, Jaro and Buntatala.
The schools that still need declogging are the following elementary schools: Jaro I and Jaro II, Sambag, L.Mirasol, GL Jaena, Cubay, Buntatala-Tagbak and JL Tiongco while the high schools are Jaro and Mandurriao
Most of the schools also needs to be cleaned with lime as bad smell emanates from the debris left by flood.
