Molo plaza
Ukay-ukay and videoke stalls are back inside the Molo plaza despite the protest by church officials last year. Wala gid mahimo and simbahan sa mga kapitanes. Worst, almost every night, rumble, stabbing and other incidents occur although the Molo police station is near. Maybe our policemen should work harder to maintain peace and order in Molo plaza at night.

Increase in generation charge
Panay Electric Company (PECO) sent us a press release over the weekend informing the public that for this month of July the generation charges reflected in their electric bill will increase from P7.9009 per kWh to P8.9600 per kWh or a total increase of P1.0591 per kWh. The PECO press release stated that the reason for the increase is primarily the increase in cost of fuel (around $140 per barrel at the world market). Also, it said, the increasing forex rate (USD to PhP) has contributed to the increase in Generation Rate.
PECO management clarified that the distribution charges (Distribution, Supply and Metering), the only charge going to PECO, remains the same at P0.905 per kWh which is one of the lowest if not the lowest in the country (Meralco collects P2.44 per kWh for the same charges).
Also, the PECO press release disclosed that out of their 52,000 customers, 17,469 customers have customers have qualified to claim the P500 subsidy by the National Government in the "Katas ng VAT" program. The subsidy will be credited to the accounts of all qualified customers upon implementation of the program.
