Unheeded order?
Mayor JPT was reported to have issued an executive order temporarily banning the holding of motorcades in the city roads as the clean up of areas hit by flood continues. However, we were surprised to see two separate motorcades the previous days. Does this mean that some departments in the city do not heed the mayor's E.O.?
Motorcade ban
Speaking of motorcades maybe it's high time that the city government should permanently ban the holding of such activity specifically on major roads in the city proper. Motorcades merely add up to the traffic congestion in the city. Why not hold motorcades or caravans in the outskirts of the city where traffic flow is not so heavy? Maybe Kagawad Armand Parcon, chair of the committee on transportation, could sponsor a resolution or ordinance on this.
Roads as basketball courts
Another practice that should be stopped is the use of roads as basketball courts most particularly in areas considered as primary streets like the Tanza-Timawa road. There a lot of covered gyms or public plazas in the city where basketball games could be held why keep on using the roads as basketball courts. Nowhere in the Local Government Code or in any other law that this practice is allowed! Sin-o ayhan ang maisog nga konsehal nga makapa-untat sini man?
Congressman vs. city mayor
In Roxas City it's congressman Tony del Rosario versus city mayor Vic Bermejo; In Bacolod City it's congressman Newks Puentevella versus city mayor Bing Leonardia; Iloilo City is lucky congressman Raul Gonzalez Jr. and city mayor Jerry Treñas are good to each other.
