Bacolod gets brand new firetruck from DILG
BACOLOD CITY -- The city of Bacolod has received a brand new fire truck from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia, Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, Councilors Al Victor Espino and Homer Bais with Bureau of Fire Protection Fire Marshall Sr. Insp. Pamela Candido and Insp. Publio Plotena, Deputy Fire Marshall, received the P9.7 million worth fire truck which will be an addition to the existing six fire trucks in the city.
"It's significant for us. We have fire volunteers. But it is also better that the government will buy fire trucks and other fire fighting equipment because it also entails millions of pesos to be shouldered by private fire volunteer organizations," Leonardia said.
Fire Marshall Candido said, "Our strength now is seven fire trucks, which is strategically assigned in the whole of Bacolod City. Our Central station in San Juan has three fire trucks, and others are assigned in Lopez Jaena, Libertad and in Rodriguez sub-fire stations."
She said that Mayor Leonardia plans to establish a fire sub-station at the new government center and once it is finalized and realized, this new fire truck will be assigned there.
The new fire truck has a 1,000 gallon capacity.
