AFP on 'Red Alert,' eyes destabilization acts on GMA's Sona
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo addresses the entire Filipino nation today in her yearly State of the Nation Address (Sona).
And while 'Sona targets' will be laid down vis a vis what has been accomplished in the past year, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) go on 'Red Alert' status.
'Red Alert' for altogether different targets expected to be eyed by the President's and the government's perennial critics in communist terrorists and legal front organizations.
The 'Red Alert' was officially on late Friday afternoon which meant extra security and heightened vigilance in government buildings and agencies. Similar request in vital government installations with the AFP here bracing for destabilization acts of the local communist hierarchy.
In a report, Captain Lowen Gil Marquez, commanding officer of the AFP's 3rd Civil Relations Group told The News Today (TNT) that combined peace and order efforts of all government law enforcement agencies are in place.
Street protests from militant groups are likewise expected with the red-flag bearing organizations known to deliver its own 'Sona.'
Captain Marquez has since appealed though for the protesters to spare the children in said rallies and to stop using the minors as added 'show of force.'
Meanwhile, all eyes will be on GMA's report on Sona targets that are supposedly on track.
Last year heard major investments realized through the Arroyo administration particularly in agriculture, education, health, transportation and employment.
In 2006 was the strengthening of the 'Super Regions' with nationwide small irrigation projects realized alongside construction of some 4,000 kilometers of farm-to-market roads. It was also in 2006 when the 'Super Region' in North Luzon, Central Philippines and Mindanao got major boost with various sea ports either rehabilitated or constructed.
