Credit grabber governor
A large television network reportedly was dismayed with what a certain governor in Western Visayas has done to the relief goods it donated for the typhoon Frank victims. Relief goods coursed through the office of the governor were reportedly repacked with plastic bags printed with the governor's name. Consequently, executives of the television network vowed not to course through the said governor the relief goods the next time around.
Successful UP Alumni centennial homecoming
The UP Alumni and Faculty Centennial Homecoming last Saturday at the Iloilo Grand Hotel was a huge success. The hotel's grand ballroom and ground floor lobby were overflowed with alumni coming from different places in the country as well as those already staying abroad. Even the organizers of the homecoming were surprised of the attendance to the event! Well, apparently those who attended the homecoming wanted to be part of history as they will no longer be around for the next centennial event.
Sen. Miriam not around
One of the distinguished UP Alumnus who was seen in last Saturday's homecoming was former Senate President Franklin Drilon. In fact, he was recognized as among the outstanding alumni in public service. Other public officials who received the same recognition were Rep. Arthur Defensor (3rd district, Iloilo), Antique Governor Sally Perez, Capiz Governor Victor Tanco, Iloilo Governor Niel Tupas Sr. and Guimaras Governor Felipe Nava. Surprisingly, Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, also a UP alumna, was not in the list. She also did not attend the homecoming although a reliable source told Bull's Eye that she was in Molo district last Saturday attending the fiesta celebration. Why she did not show up in the centennial homecoming event and why she was not included in the list of awardees is really puzzling.
