Papal Nuncio to arrive in Bacolod this Sunday
BACOLOD CITY -- Thousands of parishioners and Catholic believers here in Negros Occidental as well as in Bacolod City are awaiting the arrival of the Papal Nuncio to the Philippines Archbishop Edward Joseph Adams this coming Sunday.
A press release from the Bishop's House reported that the Papal Nuncio will depart from Manila to Bacolod at around 9:20 a.m. and he is expected to arrive at the Bacolod-Silay Airport at 10:20 a.m.
The Vatican Ambassador to the Philippines will be given reception by Silay City Mayor Jose Montelibano at the exit door of the airport, after which a motorcade will be held starting from the San Diego Parish Church in front of the Silay City Public Plaza going to Bacolod City.
The Papal Nuncio will then visit the Carmelite sisters around 11:30 a.m.
At noon time, the San Sebastian Cathedral spearheaded by Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra will give liturgical reception along with Bacolod clergy.
The Papal Nuncio will officiate the Episcopal Ordination of Bishop Gerardo Alminaza which is the highlight of his visit.
In the afternoon on the same date, he will proceed to the Pope John Paul II National Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family in the University of St. La Salle Campus.
In the evening, he will attend the testimonial dinner hosted by City Mayor Evelio Leonardia at the New Government Center near Circumferential Road and it will be followed by simple blessing and messages before Bacolod public officials.
