Burglars ransack town hall, school in Janiuay town
Unidentified burglars ransacked the town hall of Januiay, Iloilo and the nearby school located just across the municipal building Friday morning.
Janiuay Municipal Police station investigator PO2 Nestor Peregrino said the robbery occurred between 1 to 4 a.m. Friday.
He said the municipal employees discovered the burglary when they reported to office on Friday morning and were surprised to see their offices already opened.
The office of the Municipal Treasurer lost a laptop computer worth P30,000 and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office also lost P155 to robbers.
The budget office was also discovered open but everything was intact.
Aside from the town hall, the burglars likewise robbed the nearby St. Julian Academy of some P80,000 cash kept inside the drawer of the Director's office.
A certain Mrs. Bura-ay, a faculty member of the said academy, discovered the robbery incident on Friday morning.
Investigators said the burglary could have been done simultaneously by at least two groups during wee hours of the morning.
Meanwhile, S/Insp. Alex Velez said his investigators are presently in the process of gathering pieces of evidence, though they already have the names of probable suspects. (PNA)
