Anything under the sun
Pro-choice is not pro-choice (2)
So, God wills that we have to die. When God takes one's life, that is His way of controlling population growth. But not only that. God has provided man with a natural mechanism – not going against His divine law. He has set a certain number of days in a woman's sex life which we call "safe period" where no conception takes place in spite of sexual contact.
This is what the Pro-Life group recommends for family planning. It is in harmony with the divine law. This is quite a difficult law to follow and needs much self-discipline and responsibility which Adam and Eve direly lacked when they ate the forbidden fruit. And let us not like be them, otherwise the consequence will be fatal for us.
History has shown these fatal consequences like the fiery destruction of the ancient biblical cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. What was the sin of the people there? They indulged in sex perversions like lesbianism (girls living with girls) and "gayism" (boys living with boys) – the ancient version of the modern same sex marriages. Incidentally, the term sodomy (anal intercourse) came from Sodom.
The wrath of God was really there because a continued practice of this sex sin, time will eventually come when homo sapiens will become extinct, thus frustrating the will of God for us to "go out and multiply".
Another example of the wrath of God was the Great Deluge. During the time of Noah, some of the prevailing sins were also sexual ones. By ordering Noah to build an ark God thereby willed that the human race would be saved from extinction. And not only that, He cared, too, for his other creatures by commanding Noah to load a sexual pair of the animal and birds on his ark. If God cared much for the animals and the birds, how much more for man whom He had created after His own image.
God has His own way of controlling population growth – famine, war and pestilence. So why interfere on this by contraceptives?
God forbids that what are happening in this world today are simply anti-climaxes of things to come. What are these happenings? Civil wars and terrorism which may escalate into nuclear war. When the first atomic bomb was dropped at Hiroshima many worried about it how much more when the combined nuclear missiles of nations would reach more than two thousand. Famine – not only of food but also of water in war torn countries. Asian flu and HIV which may explode into epidemic proportions like the Great Plague of the Middle Ages wiping out one third of the population of entire Europe.
Yes, we pray God forbids all these.
By the way, there is a story going around in Iloilo that few days before typhoon Frank struck Iloilo, a Negrito kid was going around a group of stores asking for a glass of water to drink. But he was refused all the time. Disappointed the kid exclaimed: "Because you did not give me water, I will give you water more than you need." The rest is history.
So, who knows that God may be saying now: "You want your population reduced. Just wait, I will reduce it for you."
Again, God forbids that.
Lastly, let it be understood here that this writer is not forcing anybody to follow God's will in the same way that he (this writer) would never drag a person to hear Mass on Sundays if the latter refuses to do so. This writer believes firmly in God-given man's free will and his being the captain of his own soul.
