4 Iloilo towns seek fare hike for tricycles
Taxi units were granted by government a "plus P10" as added fare. Passenger jeepneys allowed to charge a minimum fare of P8 from previous weeks' P7.50.
Now came the turn of transport groups plying tricycles with four Iloilo towns now seeking new fare rates as well.
With approval sought from the 9th Iloilo Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP), municipal ordinances prescribing the new fare rates formed part yesterday's agenda of the regular session.
As such, increased tricycle rates are up in the towns of Tigbauan and Miag-ao in Southern Iloilo and the towns of Calinog and Janiuay in Central Iloilo pegged at P1 more.
Tigbauan for its part further passed an Ordinance regulating the parking areas and point of destination of tricycles here. Particular attention was made on the Tigbauan-Cordova-Barosong routes.
Calinog sought SP nod with the fare hike contained in Municipal Ordinance No. 2008-06 while Janiuay was through Municipal Ordinance no. 2008-36.
