Capiz PNP readies witnesses' accounts as Cuevas oversees probe
Witnesses in Thursday's killing of broadcaster Martin Roxas have now come out to testify and make official said witness accounts before police investigators.
As such, the Capiz Provincial Police Office (CPPO) are expected to file today the sworn affidavits before the prosecutor's office in Roxas City, Capiz.
The confirmation was made by Senior Superintendent Josephus Angan, CPPO director, when reached for update.
The slain broadcaster was a noontime anchorman of Radio Mindanao Network (RMN) Roxas City station.
The affidavits, Senior Superintendent Angan added, will form part of major evidence against the suspects, Christian Tan and Jonel "Bongbong Pantat" Lastimoso. Both are believed to be "just paid hitmen" of yet to be identified masterminds. Both also remain behind bars inside the lock-up cell of Roxas City Police Office.
Superintendent Angan further assured of widened and strengthened police investigation to get a complete picture of the Roxas assasination.
The News Today (TNT) gathered that no less than Chief Superintendent Isagani Cuevas, Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) director, now oversees the Roxas case. An order was reportedly out to stress the need for "a solid and tight case" against the suspects.
Results of paraffin test examination conducted on Tan and Lastimoso are expected today.
Meantime, intelligence sources told TNT that efforts are underway to secure another witness that will help shed light on the broadcaster's killing. The victim was apparently "marked for death" due to his hard-hitting commentaries. It was not clear though if ultimate reason was his anti-illegal drug campaign nor was it a "political killing."
