Lightning kills teen biker as 12 yr-old pal remains critical
A 17 year-old biker was killed Saturday when struck by lightning in Balasan, Iloilo. His 12 year-old pal remains in critical condition.
In a report, The News Today (TNT) gathered that the victims were on the way to the town plaza at the height of the stormy weather.
The 17 year-old owned the mountain bike used in a supposed quick errand when the freak accident occurred. He was hit on the chest and died thereafter.
The 12 year-old victim on the other hand suffered serious injuries on various parts of his body.
Latest medical bulletin placed the 12 year-old still in "critical condition."
Meantime, one is dead in an encounter between armed men and the police in Poblacion, Oton, Iloilo.
Bombo Radyo Iloilo in a report disclosed three armed male suspects who were pursued by authorities after tipped-off of the trio's possession of high-powered firearms.
A hot pursuit operation then ensued late Sunday evening until early morning yesterday. Two managed to flee as one engaged the police in gunfight that ultimately led to his death. He also tried to hide himself in a muddy canal yet seen by responding cops.
Recovered in his possession was a .45 caliber pistol while pals got away with the high-powered firearms. Authorities have yet to disclose the identity of the sole fatality believed to be members of the Revolutionary Proletariat Army (RPA), splinter group of Communist Party of the Philippines – New People's Army (CPP-NPA).
One member of the Oton police – Police Officer 2 Roldan Boron - sustained gunshot wounds when shot twice.
