AFP warns: 'Beware of urban terrorists'
An unholy alliance set to sow terror in the city is reportedly in the works.
As such, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) here is warning the public to be vigilant and alert authorities of any feared attacks.
In a report, The News Today (TNT) gathered that one government official in Molo District, Iloilo City is a supposed target. Further still, TNT was told, a "murder squad" is reportedly being formed by the local hierarchy of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) – New People's Army (NPA) – National Democratic Front (NDF).
Tagged by the AFP as "urban terrorists," Captain Lowen Gil Marquez said murder-squad members will augment and forge partnerships with local criminals involved in robbery-hold-ups. Also eyed for the urban terror is a purported linkage with "guns-for-hire" with subjects or hit-list to be provided by the CPP-NPA-NDF.
Captain Marquez, commanding officer of the AFP's 3rdCivil Relations Group confirmed the report. This, Marquez added were among the validated information that further disclosed a "sharing" of financial proceeds in all operations.
"As a preventive measure, we want to call on our peace-loving Ilonggos to be vigilant and report whatever suspicious activities they encounter in their areas. Also, it is important that we coordinate with our law enforcement agencies and our barangay-police so that we can immediately address the problem and avert any planned criminalities," Captain Marquez said.
