Committee formed to inventory furnitures at old city hall
BACOLOD CITY -- City Administrator Dr. Rogelio Balo confirmed yesterday that Mayor Evelio Leonardia created a special committee to conduct a physical inventory of all furnitures and fixtures at the old city hall.
Balo said that he has already issued a memorandum to all Department Heads to submit a report as to the number of office tables, chairs and cabinets used in every offices.
The committee will also inventory the space to be vacated if ever the old city hall will be transferred to the New Government Center. "As of now, we are preparing a lay out and drawings in every rooms to be vacated soon," Balo said.
Dr. Balo is very optimistic that the inventory will be completed before the end of September.
Earlier, Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson had initial plans that the old furnitures will be donated to various schools after the New Government Center acquired new furnitures. He is amenable that this furnitures will be inventoried first by the city government and if necessary by the Commission on Audit (COA).
Sayson is responsible for the collation of all lay-outs in every office at the New Government Center. He was tasked by Mayor Leonardia to study the proposed plans of every department and forward thereafter to the City Engineers Office for the lay-out.
Meanwhile, one of the bidders, Zacto System Inc. filed an official complaint to Mayor Leonardia to investigate the alleged collusion between Summit and Comfac furnitures who delivered last week their sample furnitures at the New Government Center using the same delivery van.
The delivery was confirmed upon revelation by their witnesses that this companies delivered their "mock-ups" in a single delivery or before the Zacto System displayed their samples last August 20, 2008.
However, Bids and Awards Committee Chairman Atty. Goldwyn Nifras declared that the bidding was very transparent because one of them passed when they conducted an evaluation as to the eligibility of documents last week.
The BAC opted to convene this week and further discuss the scheduled rebidding activities after declaring the first bidding to have failed.
