Feel young, stay young
Lately the trend in fashion and beauty is relentlessly directed to various modes and approaches on slowing down the process of aging. These days, sags and creases on the face or wrinkles are frowned upon as fashion blah and as more has become absorbed in finding effective formulas in constantly rejuvenating if not fully maintaining that glow from the chronic attraction of the fountain of youth, researchers persistently work on the science of staying and looking young.
Almost all body care and beauty brands are jumping into the trend that in any store there are a wide variety of topical formulations especially intended as anti-aging products, most of which claim to be very efficient and effective in preventing or reversing skin damages that speeds up the aging process. Drastic methods, such as face lifts or any other brutal body operations for physical enhancements are rarely sought now for its known possible health hazards and so anti-aging treatment breakthroughs are either formulated as creams, vitamins, or special dietary supplements.
But according to Karen E. Burke, a dermatologist, beauty products that profusely promise to erase lines and wrinkles do not necessarily contain or if any has very low concentrations of anti-oxidants that are not well absorbed by the skin or has a very short term effect.
But what are anti-oxidants?
Anti-oxidants are known to prevent agents called free radicals from damaging cells in the body and the skin. Free radicals are a result of normal body processes, but they can also be created by exposure to various environmental factors such as smoking and ultra violet radiation from the sun.
Recently research showed in response to the need of individuals who want to stay youthful and healthy looking, that taking ample amount of vitamins and nutrients effectively works in achieving optimal results for delaying aging and prolonged wellness of the skin and the body.
Here are the sample list of vital anti-aging supplements.
- Vitamin E - experts consider this to be the foremost anti-oxidant because it helps protect cell membranes and prevents damages to enzymes associated with them. Applying or taking vitamin E is also known to help reduce skin damage caused by sun exposure and limit the production of cancer-causing cells. Supplementation with vitamin E in 400 milligrams a day has been noted to lessen photo damage, wrinkles and improve skin texture.
- Vitamin C - even minimal UV exposure can decrease the vitamin c levels in the skin by 30 percent so vitamin C is considered essential in repairing free radicals and preventing the acceleration of the aging process.
- Selenium - it helps protect the body from cancers including skin cancers caused by sun exposure. It preserves tissue elasticity and slows down the aging and hardening of tissues associated with oxidation.
- Vitamin A - it helps in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, good acne control and is considered as the most potent nutrient if you want to make a real difference in your skin.
- Vitamin B complex - when it comes to skin the single most important B vitamin is biotin, a nutrient that forms the basis of skin, nail, and hair cells. Creams containing B vitamins can give skin an almost healthy glow while hydrating cells and increasing over-all tone at the same time.
However, the powers of these supplements can doubly work efficiently still through basic nurturing of our over-all wellness. No amount of vitamins can repair the damages if we constantly abuse or misuse our body. Our fortress of youth can be prolonged if we take extra care in keeping ourselves healthy and clean. Also, it helps to keep these in mind- minimize sun exposure if possible, eat a balanced diet, drink plenty of water, have an adequate amount of sleep and rest, refrain from smoking, exercise, and enjoy being who you are as an ode to life. Remember, beauty transcends beyond what the eyes can see.
