Car of city's intel chief bombed
Iloilo City 'under siege'?
Villagers in Barangay Salvacion Molo, Iloilo City awakened to a car bombing yesterday morning.
Fortunately no injuries were reported albeit the targeted car parked by the roadside bore major damage. Houses within the crime scene were hit by shrapnel as well. This, as at least two male suspects were reportedly spotted to have immediately fled after the incident.
The car, a Mitsubishi Lancer, was the service vehicle of Police Chief Inspector Musa Amiong. Amiong is the current chief of the Intelligence Section of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).
Responding police placed the bombing at about 4am.
Senior Police Officer 3 (SPO3) Raphael Managuit of the ICPO's Explosives and Ordnance Division (EOD) told Bombo Radyo that an F26-A fragmentation grenade was used.
Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) added that based on the extent of the car wreck, the grenade was placed by the driver's seat.
Totally damaged was the door by the driver's side, the windshield and front tires.
Locals reached by Bombo Radyo similarly said that one huge explosion was heard.
Chief Inspector Amiong when reached for interview told said radio station that no other motives other than his anti-drug operation is behind the bombing.
And it was clearly a serious "hands-off" message too, he added, while saying that he knows who the masterminds are.
No further details were disclosed by the Intelligence Chief.
