Iggy distributes checks to 456 scholars in Binalbagan
BACOLOD CITY -- Negros Occidental 5thDistrict Rep. Ignacio T. Arroyo led the distribution of checks to 456 of his scholars in Binalbagan, Friday.
Arroyo with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) representative Nona Fernandez distributed 223 checks to the student-scholars at the Binalbagan Catholic College and 233 student-scholars at Carlos Hilado Memorial State College also received their respective checks.
These are payments for this semester, said Arroyo.
Arroyo said, he is more motivated to expand the number of scholars because investing in education is truly more beneficial to his constituents.
Students are proud to be called "Ako scholar ni Iggy" because they had the opportunity to go to school with the assistance of Congressman Arroyo.
Arroyo allocated P7 million for scholarship program with P3.5 million for the 1stsemester and another P3.5 million for this semester.
Arroyo also shared to the students his inputs on House Bill 4381 or "An Act to promote environmental education, strengthening for this purpose Section 53 of Presidential Decree No. 1152, otherwise known as the Philippine Environmental Code and for other purposes" which he authored.
The bill seeks to uphold the Constitutional policy of the State to protect and advance the right of the people to a balanced and healthful ecology in accord with the rhythm and harmony of nature under the Constitution.
