Who is in a better advantage? The CPPor the MILF
The existence of a standing alliance of two sadistic groups already came straight from the horse's mouth. Jose Maria Sison, the self-proclaimed political consultant of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines already admitted that the CPP which professes to be the protector of the people has been maintaining a longstanding alliance with a very oppressive group such as the MILF since early 80s.
But what does the so-called alliance encompass? The alliance accords each threat group leeway to operate in their respective AORs and other overlapping areas, facilitate the joint training with members of the opposite group and assist in the landing and procurement of war material for each other. In a nutshell, the alliance dictates that both groups will give each other mutual support and right of passage against the military which they consider as their common enemy.
The CPP which initiated the alliance with the MILF is merely employing the policy doctrine of the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" to confront a common adversary which is the government. It is not colluding with the MILF because it wants to uphold the rights of the Bangsamoro for self-determination and democracy to its truest essence but for the sole reason that it is beneficial for the party's success in its own war against the government.
The CPP realizes that it cannot afford to have the MILF as its opponent while it also faces a more technically equipped and superior armed forces in the battle fields. And, what better way to defeat one's enemy than working in cahoots with your adversary's enemy? The CPP is merely taking advantage of the MILF to serve its ulterior motive. It is deliberately fanning the conflict in Mindanao to serve its own purpose of drawing out military attention from Luzon and Visayas which the movement considers as its hotbed areas to give members of the New Peoples Army flexibility to operate and expand.
However, the recent developments in the conflict in Mindanao show that the common enemy is no longer just the military as the MILF intentionally massacred innocent civilians, an attack which the CPP virtually condoned with its silence and subsequent issuance of series of statements of their support to the group. This shows that the CPP have thrown its high regard to its ideology and the protection of human rights right out of the window just so it can achieve its objective of toppling the government.
In an August 21 statement, Jose Maria Sison commented that NPA attacks which will be implemented in sympathy to the MILF is in the interest of the Filipino people. How can Jose Maria Sison think that atrocities of the NPA such as the Masbate City attack of an ambulance that wounded four of its six passengers and the deplorable violence carried out by the MILF which victimized scores of innocent civilians and displaced thousands of families in Mindanao is in the interest of the Filipino people? Is that his distorted definition of interest?
Is it really in the best interest of the Filipino people to let them live in constant fear? That the possibility of hundreds of fully armed MILF rebels would come crashing through their village and kill everyone… regardless of who they are, what ever age they may be that they cower in their own homes or flee to other areas. Be it a man, woman, child or the elderly, to a man who carries the gun, it makes no difference at all. And Jose Maria Sison has the gall to "comment" that the NPA emulate the MILF and carry out tactical offensives in Mindanao in support to the allegedly beleaguered group. Who is more harassed? the people who were attacked with no provocations or the MILF who are wielding the M16 and M14 rifles?
It is in the interest of the Filipino people that the violence in far south should be stopped and the MILF which is merely using religion as a façade to gain adherents to their secessionist struggle is eradicated at the soonest possible time.
Doesn't the CPP which puts a high esteem on Mao Zedong and his teachings realize that their continued silence on the marauding acts of the MILF has in essence contradicted one of the philosopher's dictums to his followers not to steal even a single needle from peasants? The movement has in fact hailed the MILF for their attacks and this means that the CPP is hailing all that the MILF has done in the past weeks – looted the livelihood and resources of civilians during their attacks in Lanao del Norte and Shariff Kabunsuan. Is the movement's high esteem for following ideology to the hilt now being thrown outside the window too?
