20 PNP 'bad eggs' to be thrown to Mindanao
Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Raul Gonzalez Sr. yesterday confirmed that at least 20 policemen who are considered "bad eggs" in the police organization will be transferred to Mindanao soon.
Gonzalez said he met two days ago with Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno where they talked about the transfer of 20 scalawag policemen to "critical zones" in Mindanao.
In a radio interview, the secretary made no mention regarding the present assignments of the cops he considered as "bad eggs" in the police organization.
In the same interview, Gonzalez also questioned the presence of police officer Rex de los Reyes in Mandurriao police station. De los Reyes was among the policemen transferred outside Iloilo City when Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 regional director Chief Supt. Isagani Cuevas assumed office.
One of the first tasks of Cuevas when he assumed office was to cleanse PRO 6 of policemen involved in illegal drugs and other anomalies.
In earlier interview, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) director Senior Supt. Bartolome Tobias said they are currently taking extra efforts to speed-up the resolution of the cases of 20 cops who have pending administrative cases.
It was not immediately known on whether the same set of 20 policemen are bound for their Mindanao assignments. The city director said they want to immediately resolve the cases per request of the secretary of Justice to instill discipline among the policemen. One of the suggestions is to send them to Mindanao to reform.
