EUROPE -- Watching the news through TFC about the COURT OF APPEALS controversy, I simply said to my 2-year old daughter CORKY who was sitting on my lap while we watched together the news... "THIS IS JUST A CONFIRMATION for public to know THAT THERE IS INDEED IMPUNITIES GOING ON AND ON IN THE BRANCH OF OUR GOVERNMENT USED TO BE KNOWN AS THE LAST BASTION OF TRUTH, FREEDOM, AND JUSTICE -- the JUDICIARY -- under the Arroyo graft-ridden administration.
Lawyers and justice-thirsty Filipinos alike have nothing more in their minds but to cast more doubts to our Judiciary... the taint that perhaps could no longer be taken from everyone's perception about the system so long as this present administration exist.
Surely there are also some good men in robes whom we can still trust. These bad eggs in the Judiciary are only few who wants to rise in their social and financial status by stepping on the toes of so many Filipinos and at the expense of the integrity of the Judiciary. What will happen now to the quest for justice of those who have less in life? An ordinary man of the street perhaps will ask: "IS THERE STILL HOPE FOR US UNDER THIS PRESENT ADMINISTRATION?" A day after watching the news, wearing my heavy winter jacket (its very cold here now, it's the start of winter season) I happened to talk with DONG (just his nickname) about the current situation in the Philippines. "ITS VERY DISGUSTING AND A BIG SHAME," he exclaimed. "Whats happening to our country? I preferred to stay here though how hard it is than to die of hunger out there," he added.
Dong has been here for more than 10 years already together with his wife and three kids. He is in a construction business while his wife is working as a Nurse. He is from Cavite. Many Filipinos whom I met two years ago when I first arrived here and are still here working hard for their living joined the sentiments of Dong. We talked and laughed over a cup of brewed coffee but its still nothing compared to the native coffee of CORKY's... ohhh i really missed it sipping with Erly, Jun, Reming, Norwin( belated happy b-day Pare), Rex, Mare Tonette, Pare Narsing... Regards!
