Orosco on issues vs Villar: It's politically motivated
ROXAS CITY – Sapian Mayor Arturo "Turic" Orosoc, Ph.D. defended Senate President Manny Villar over the issue linking the latter to the alleged P200 million double entry in the national budget. Orosco said the issue hurled against the senator is "politically motivated".
"I believe that Villar is innocent of the issues thrown against him by Sen. Ping Lacson," Orosco told The News Today (TNT).
Orosco, whose properties particularly the family-run St. Francis of Asissi are located at Las Piñas City, is a family friend of the Villars.
The Sapian mayor encouraged the people not to believe hook line and sinker whatever is said by Villar's accusers. He said the people should discern and study the facts behind the issue.
Lacson, in a privilege speech on Monday, accused Villar of double insertion on the allocation for the C-5 road extension project in Parañaque City involving the P200 million pesos, even as he denied his expose was politically motivated.
But Villar on Wednesday shrugged off the controversy over the P200-million double entry in the 2008 budget, to which he was linked, was "part of [the] political exercise" and said he has no plans of filing charges against his accuser.
Villar has announced his intention to seek the presidency in 2010. Although Lacson, who lost his presidential bid in 2004, has yet to officially announce his intentions, he is widely believed to be eyeing another run for the highest post in the land.
Orosco has yet to announce whether he would support Villar in his presidential bid or support Sen. Mar Roxas who is also rumored to run for president.
"I will cross the bridge when I reach there," Orosco quipped.
