AFP warns: CPP imports terrorists from other regions
If government forces are sent as augmentation to fellow operatives, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) here are out with a new public warning.
The local hierarchy of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) have reportedly employed a similar strategy. And case in point is the situation here in Western Visayas with CPP-infiltrated areas now enjoying augmentation from counterparts in Region V.
Tagged as communist terrorists, Captain Lowen Gil Marquez confirmed the report adding that a "Special Operations (Terror) Group" has been formed by the CPP.
Marquez is the commanding officer of the AFP's 3rdCivil Relations Group.
"Our latest intelligence monitoring disclosed that the Panay Communist Terrorist Party Committee and the Bicol Regional Communist Terrorist Party Committee have joined forces. Their Special Operation Group is a criminal syndicate comprised of Guns-For-Hire, notorious kidnappers and dangerous hold-uppers," Captain Marquez told The News Today (TNT). "Further still, we know that these communist terrorist agents are out to cover Region V and Region VI as evidenced of the recent encounter of local Iloilo police with three suspects. "
As such, Captain Marquez called for a widened information dissemination and strengthened community support.
"Report to your local authorities any suspicious activity or arrivals in your area. Protect your neighborhood from the criminal activities of these urban terrorists backed by the CPP," Captain Marquez added.
It was not immediately known who amongst the supposed "Special Operations (Terror) Group" have been identified by the AFP. TNT from outside sources was told though that personalities behind here are long known to the intelligence community. Backgrounds of the suspects range from years of criminal work such as highway robbery, kidnapping for ransom, extortion and even murder.
"We need to be on alert against these violent criminals who are out not in pursuit of whatever political ideology but only for money," Captain Marquez ended.
