Sensational U.S. Presidential derby
Will an American-African Presidential hopeful win the next presidency of the U.S.? During the Obama-Clinton sweepstakes for the democratic presidential hopeful, the black American was very popular that Senator Hillary Clinton was left behind although she was the brightest unbeatable Democratic presidential bet.
John McCain then was very unpopular especially when he aligned himself with Pres. Bush during the early Republican presidential nomination campaign. However, as the war in Iraq seems to turn the tide in favor of the Americans, McCain was only behind Obama by 10 percent. There are more white voters than the black in the U.S. White Americans will always vote for their own color when the final reckoning comes. So with black Americans. They will unite with their own black candidate although white voters outnumber black voters by 4 to 1. But many white voters are also for Obama for they like his program of CHANGE!
With the choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as McCain's vice presidential running mate, the picture has completely changed. Many black women voters may have second thought. White American women voters, are behind Sarah Palin and eventually McCain. Many strongly praised the choice after it was announced, especially because Gov. Palin strongly opposes abortion rights. Senior strategist Steve Schmidt said that Sarah Palin is "one of the most exceptional governors in the country" with credential that fit perfectly with Senator McCain's message. Many observers say that choosing Sen. Joe Biden, a gray-haired career Washington politician with commander-in-chief gravites reminiscent of his Republic opponent but who may weaken the "change" campaign message for many voters. Gov. Palin is portrayed as a crusading government reformer, much like Sen. McCain. Her personality in Alaska has soared as high as 83% as she has sacked political appointees with close ties to industry lobbyists and shelved pork projects by fellow Republicans. Palin gained local acclaim in Alaska for being named Miss Wasilla, Miss Congeniality and first runner-up in the Miss Alaska contest. She runs as much as 16 kilometers almost every day. The distinctive looking governor in striding downtown office with just a press aide and a reporter, a woman passing by pointed her finger at her and said, "Are you...? Oh my God! I like you, although I don't always agree with you."
Sen. Joe Biden is also a distinguished lawmaker for years and has sponsored many bills for the benefit of his constituents and the American people. But will the younger generation especially the women go with him and Sen. Obama? In the national polls survey a week ago, a worldwide television network, portrayed McCain leading Obama by sizeable margin. Had Obama picked Hilary Clinton as his running mate, the election fervor would have been exciting as Palin will be pitted against Hilary, both women of national stature. Obama supporters fear that many of the Hillary Clinton's diehards will vote for McCain-Palin as they were downtrodden with Hillary not getting the vice presidency post. With the U.S. elections barely two months, McCain and Palin are wowing votes of the evangelical Christians and independent Democratic voters which constitute majority of the American electorates. Will Obama's slogan, "Change" click as McCain and Palin are themselves changed politicians?
The McCain-Obama and Palin-Biden debates by end of September are interesting show to watch.
