Dance sports!
Dance sports has always fascinated me. The agility, energy and costumes are what attract me to this kind of dancing and I was quite happy to attend the regional dance sports competition held by the Dancesport Federation of Western Visayas last Sept. 13, 2008 at the Amigo Terrace Hotel.
Pairs from all over the region came to showcase their grooves in three categories – Juvenile, Pre-Amateur and Third World.
The winning pair in the Juvenile Category is composed of Ricmar Bayoneta and Candelaria Evangelista.
The champion in the Pre-Amateur Category is the pair of Teresita Puertogalete and Reynaldo Susbilla, Jr.; first runner up, pair of Geraldine Segotier and Roi Van Mira; and second runner-up, pair of Charrylyn Erecre and Rameses Banzuelo.
The champion in the Third World Category is the pair of Errol Villalobos and Faron Mijares; first runner up, Nerio Amorin and Kurt Brick Tuble; second runner up, Brian Baylon and Barry Balondan; third runner up, Rudy Usalla and Excino Diaz; and fourth runner-up, Aron Lemery and John Brillante. The abovementioned names complete the participants in the competition.
The competition aimed to attract dance sports enthusiasts throughout the region, including Bacolod and to tap quality dancers that could compete nationally and to any international Latin dance sports competition in the near future.
The federation's president is Harold Dalumpines and can be reached through (033) 855-0414 or 0927-5087 or e-mail to harletanes501@yahoo.com.
