Bacolod readies traffic re-routing for Masskara Festival
BACOLOD CITY -- The Traffic Management Unit of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) along with the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) have jointly submitted the closures and re-routing plan that will affect motor vehicles in different streets during the celebration of Masskara Festival 2008.
This was confirmed yesterday by Senior Inspector Levy G. Pangue, Traffic Management Unit Chief. He said that his office already submitted the final draft of the re-routing plan to the Sangguniang Panglungsod for approval and implementation.
The traffic re-routing will affect Rizal-Gatuslao streets, Rizal-San Juan streets, Araneta-Gonzaga streets, and San Juan Street which will be closed starting 5:00 p.m. from October 1-19, 2008.
Pangue also said that during the opening ceremony on October 1, 2008 there will be a temporary closure of Rizal-San Juan streets, Rizal0-Gatuslao Streets, Gonzaga-Gatuslao streets, Araneta-Gonzaga streets and San Juan-Gonzaga streets at 8:00 am until the end of the program.
He further stressed that on October 17, 18 and 19, 2008, there will be a closure of 5th Streets Lacson-North Drive at 4:00 p.m to give way to the celebration of the Second Electric Masskara supported by various business groups.
Pangue emphasized that during the highlight of Masskara Festival on October 17 & 18, 2008 where the Street Dance Competition will be held, there will be a closure of Araneta-Lizares streets up to the Bacolod City Public Plaza.
On October 19, 2008 Charter Day Celebration and Parade, the closure will be implemented starting at the Capitol Lagoon to Lacson-Henares streets - Araneta Street and the streets surrounding the Public Plaza which will be affected by Charter Day Parade.
Normal traffic operation will resume on October 20, 2008.
