Mayor Zayco leads guests in musical presentation
City Mayor Pedro P. Zayco, Jr., with Vice Mayor Delia Anacan were among the city officials who attended the musical presentation "Ikaw… Ako… Disenyo at ang Musika", a highlight of the tourism week celebration held at the Farmers Center in Kabankalan City on Sept. 26.
Held for the first time in the city, the musical presentation was a joint project of the city government and DepEd-Kabankalan headed by Dr. Elisa Broñola, division superintendent. It was under the auspices of the Kabankalan City Cultural and Tourism Foundation, Inc.
The one-hour and a half show came in two parts. The first portion featured local singers, instrumentalists and folk dancers. The second half was a fashion show of colonial, regional and formal wear created by a local designer Errol de los Reyes.
Dr. Broñola said the guests came in formal attire, preferably Philippine terno for women and barong tagalog for men in order to highlight the beauty of the traditional formal wear.
Featured artists were Teresa Ramos and Teresita Santa Cruz accompanied at the piano by Jasmin Perez. Eliezer Dan Acar and pianist Eunice Joy Panes of Fellowship Baptist College rendered a saxophone and piano duet. Other local singers were Geoliza de Luna, Coleen Jean Valdez, Kathryn Joy Belarga and Joseph Escalaña . The St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Choir also gave two numbers of popular local folks song conducted by Fr. Sergio Millarez.
In his message, Mayor Zayco said he is glad for the city to have come up with this musical presentation showcasing the various musical talents in the city. (Eddie M. Yap)
