It's about the NASSPHIL
We must be proud of our city because it was chosen as the venue of the First NASSPHIL (National Association of Secondary Schools of the Philippines) Student Leaders Congress on September 26-28, 2008 at Punta Villa Resort.
The three-day congress was participated by more than 600 participants from both the public and private schools all over the country with the theme "Student Leaders: Taking the Front Line in Responsibility."
It was a great opportunity for St. Joseph School (Iloilo), Inc. sending nine student leaders to attend the first national congress sponsored by the NASSPHIL under the leadership of Rev Dr. Exequiel F. Guanzon. I would like to share some lines coming from his speech before the young leaders who were present in the congress.
"Our theme for our first NASSPHIL Student Leaders Congress, "Student Leaders: Taking the front line in Responsibility" appropriately describes the significant roles you play as young individuals who dream of becoming the future able leaders of this nation.
This congress served as an effective ground to discover, to hone and to develop the leadership skills within you my dear young leaders.
Vice President Noli de Castro said and I quote, "A strong republic will crumble if it is not founded on the education of our young." You young leaders are our major national resource. Who knows that one of you here will be the next president of our country? No one can tell but it is really possible.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the administrators, teacher and advisers of each school for bringing their student leaders here in the City of Love for this first national student congress. Traveling for long hours as far as Cagayan Valley down to the southernmost part of the country just to attend this congress is a sign of eagerness and being responsive to the call of responsibility of a leader.
I thank my national NASSPHIL administrators sector officers as well as that of the teachers and of course the youth officers in the leadership of Emil Jon Buentipo for making this congress a possible and a great success. Without these hardworking persons behind this national activity, this congress will not be materialized. Thank you for your cooperation, for your never-ending support and most of all for your presence for we made a history."
I'll grab this opportunity to say thank you to the NASSPHIL for choosing me as the congress facilitator. I had the chance to work with the NASSPHIL student officers and I had the chance to field my nine student leaders to become student facilitators for the fun games and for the socials night.
I would like to mention my nine Josephian leaders who did a very good job and performed their task assigned to them, namely: Anna Allyssa Robledo, Lori Anne Latumbo, Catherine Marie Atienza, Myra Espinosa, Rika Maeda, Ralph Dalumpines, Raian Antonano, Stella Marie Locsin and Jeremiah Claudine Calacal. Kudos to all of you guys for a job well done.
Congratulations to Jeremiah Claudine Calacal for having been elected as the President of the PRISSAAP (Private Secondary School Administrators Association of the Philippines) Youth Sector of Region VI for the upcoming school year. Moreover, she has been elected as President of the NASSPHIL – National Level Youth Sector also for next school year. Congratulations Apple, your Josephian family is very proud of you!
