Pineapple production looms in San Jose
SAN JOSE, Antique – A pineapple production project will soon grow in Barangay San Pedro, north of San Jose de Buenavista.
Initiated by the Department of Agriculture Region 6 and supervised by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist and the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist, a demonstration farm wherein 3,600 pineapple suckers of high value crops from Passi City was planted.
Planting was done through dagyaw system and participated in by all barangay and sangguniang kabataan officials, barangay tanods and local residents.
Care and management of this project will be taken care of by the Barangay Council with regular monitoring and evaluation conducted by personnel from the office of the Municipal Agriculturist.
If successful, proceeds from the project will be used for expansion purposes as well as assist other farmers who may wish to go into same pineapple production.
This project is considered by LGU San Jose as a long term commitment that needs people's participation and cooperation to become self-reliant individuals. (LGU San Jose/PIA)
