UNICEF gives water containers to Capiz
ROXAS CITY – The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has provided Capiceños with water containers.
Engr. Jane Delos Reyes, Sanitary Inspection of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Capiz, disclosed that UNICEF has given Capiceños some 2,500 units of water containers and sodium hypo chloride (hyposole).
She said that the water containers, which were distributed to the towns here in August, were intended for victims of floods brought by typhoon "Frank."
Of the total water containers, the towns of Cuartero, Panitan, Dao, Pontevedra, Panay and Sigma were each given 300 while the remaining 10 towns each received 50 containers with hyposole, Delos Reyes said.
On the other hand, Roxas City was given a total of 175 water containers, of which 100 was specifically intended for residents of Olotayan island.
Delos Reyes added that the remaining 25 water containers are still at the PHO including those that were given by the Department of Health (DOH).
Meanwhile, Cuartero Mayor Roger Flores said that they have already distributed to the target beneficiaries the water containers and waterine hyposole disinfectant.
Flores said that they are still waiting for the additional 100 water containers as part of their 300-container allocation from UNICEF for distribution.
Earlier, officials from the UNICEF were here in Capiz to personally assess the impact of typhoon "Frank" in the province.
As a result of said assessment, said organization, aside from the appropriation of water containers and water disinfectants, had given school supplies and materials to children and teachers in Olotoyan island, Roxas City. (PIA/Jemin B. Guillermo)
