DILG Sec. Puno guest speaker in Charter Day
22 brgys to join street dance contest, 10 for Electric Masskara
BACOLOD CITY -- Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno will be the guest speaker in the Charter Day celebration of Bacolod City on October 19, said Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia.
The celebration will be held at the new government center.
Leonardia said that Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson recommended Secretary Puno because the local governments play a big role in the growth and progress of the city.
He added, they want to make the 70th birthday of Bacolod City extra special because 70 is a milestone and they don't want it to just pass by without celebrating its essence.
The Masskara festival is only a way of celebrating the Charter Day of the City and it is the only city which made its Charter Day celebration a tourist attraction.
There are 22 barangays that will participate in the streetdance competition and ten barangays for the Electric Masskara.
There are also ten local government units in the province which will participate in the Charter day parade to also showcase their respective festivals.
The City Government of Bacolod has given the 22 barangays P100,000 each and P50,000 each for those participating in the electric Masskara.
Moreover, Leonardia is expecting a bigger crowd this year as reflected by the fully booked hotel rooms in the city these days. He urged everyone to enjoy the festivities.
