District police chiefs given chance to improve performance
Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) OIC Director Senior Supt. Bartolome Tobias said district police chiefs who ranked below in terms of operation and management of their respective police precincts would be given the chance to improve their performance. He is set to conduct another performance evaluation among the precinct commanders soon.
Tobias said the recent result of the evaluation would not be used as basis for a reorganization in the city police. It is just the first round of evaluation. "It would be unfair if the precinct commanders would be immediately relieved from their positions. They would be given the opportunity to prove their worth," Tobias said.
In the recent evaluation, Senior Inspector Federico Silvestre of the Arevalo police station was recorded to have a significant performance. "There are other police stations that needs to improve their performance in operation as well as management. The capacity of the commander to act as head of the precinct is reflective of their performance," Tobias noted.
The reorganization of precinct commanders was then recommended by Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez Sr. to Tobias.
Tobias did not say on when is the next evaluation among the police chiefs. Nevertheless,he wants his men to stay focused on the fight against all forms of criminalities and seek the support of the people and barangay officials.
The support of the barangay officials and their residents is important in whatever endeavor the police wants to initiate. The barangay tanods act as multiplier force of the police.
