Lolo and Lola at home in SM City Iloilo
SM City Iloilo gave tribute to senior citizens with a series of events that specially catered to them and also provided a worthwhile experience for the young.
Last October 1, the Department of Social Welfare and Development VI Regional Coordinating and Monitoring Board (DSWD VI--RCMB) kicked off the celebration of Elderly Week with a special program at SM City Iloilo Event Center at 10 am.
In the afternoon, the Federation of Senior Citizens Affairs of the Philippines (FSCAP) Iloilo Chapter held a presentation of candidates for the Search for King Lolo and Queen Lola 2008, as well as the winners of the previous years.
Likewise, on October 2, The FSCAP Iloilo Chapter showcased the dancing skills of Iloilo City's senior citizens through a Ballroom and Folk dance Contest. Last October 3, shoppers experienced firsthand the singing prowess of some of Iloilo's most talented lolos and lolas in the Vocal Solo and Chorale Contest.
Our beloved grannies also sponsored the mall's Sunday Mass last October 5 and later staged a showdown of champions of the contest held earlier during the week.
Meanwhile, on October 10, the HALIGI Foundation will sponsor the Super Lolo & Lola Field Demonstration Showdown 2008 which aims to promote the value of exercise and wellness amongst the senior citizens of Iloilo City.
