Panitan Liga caretaker becomes full-fledged president
PANITAN, Capiz – The caretaker of this town's Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) Punong Barangay Ignacio Deocampo of Brgy. Capagao has become a full-fledged president after he won in the toss coin to break the tie in the raucous special election held last Monday.
Deocampo and his opponent Punong Barangay Richard "Bantit" Dadivas of Brgy. Tincupon both got 13 votes prompting the holding of a toss coin.
Six other positions to include the vice president and five board members also tied with 13 votes each which was also resolved by a toss coin. They were: Leonel Delay, vice president; Jose Juvy, Jerome Degoma, Joselito Denosta, Jesus Dayalo, and Baltazar Derramas, Board of Directors (BOD).
Other elected officers are: Elmer Distor, auditor; Gilbert Denaga and Freddie De la Rosa, BOD.
Dadivas said that he conceded and recognized Deocampo as president of the chapter after the special election.
On the other hand, Deocampo said that he will prioritize the unity of the village chiefs after they became divided for almost one year due to the failure of election.
Before the election proper, a heated argument ensued between Deocampoo and Poblacion Ilawod Brgy. Captain Oliver Delfin when the latter questioned the authority of Brgy. Kagawad Roland Besorio of Brgy. Quios in replacing suspended Brgy. Capt. Dante Delmindo.
Also present during the special election were: Glenn Guzman of Department of Interior and Local Government, Board Member Clemente Firmalino, provincial liga president; Art Cruz from the office of 1st District Cong. Antonio del Rosario, among others.
