Filipino nurses in Arizona donate for typhoon Frank victims
Rotary Club of Iloilo West.
The Philippine Nurses Association of Arizona (PNAAZ) recently donated $4,000 to the victims of Typhoon Frank here in Iloilo Province. The donation was coursed through the Rotary Club of Iloilo West.
With its motto of "SHARE, SERVE AND SOAR" the PNAAZ voluntarily raised the money to help the communities and families devastated by the typhoon.
PNAAZ is headed by President-Macbeth Torno. Its officers include President elect-Josefina Barone, Vice President-Connie Lahera, Recording Secretary-Emma Rosales, Corresponding Secretary-Fleur Magbanua, Treasurer-Mila Aquino, Assistant Treasurer-Eva Tupas, Auditor-Nenita del Monte. Board members include: Salvacion Cornillez, Rizza Ditchella, Paz Nagaran, Olive Oarde, Lina Ong, Jay Maningo-Salinas, Evelyn Showell and Shirletta Soden. Advisory Council members are Evita Saquilayan, Nelly Peterson and Beth Rose. Mrs. Shirletta Acurantes-Soden, who hails from Pavia, Iloilo, facilitated the donation.
The Rotary Club of Iloilo West, committed to serve the community, identified the beneficiaries of the donation and purchased the needed medical equipment and supply to provide the typhoon-devastated communities with ready medical facilities.
Among the organizations which received the donation include the Janiuay District Hospital, the municipal health offices of Pavia and Janiuay, and the various barangay health centers in Janiuay, Cabatuan, Sta. Barbara and Iloilo City.
The donations were distributed by the club through its president, Mr. Filoteo Palmaras III, President-Elect Allan Dumalay, Vice President Raul Anlocotan, Secretary Joe Moleta and Treasurer Fred Alas-as. Other officers of the club also actively participated in the distribution of the donated medical equipment.
The medical supplies and equipment donated include sphygmomanometers, stethoscopes, doppler machines and nebulizers. These equipment were intended to replenish the ones lost by the health centers during the flood. According to the medical director of the Janiuay District Hospital, they used to have four Doppler machines but they were all destroyed during the flood. The donation made by the Filipina Nurses from Arizona would greatly health the hospital in its health service delivery.
The Rotary Club of Iloilo West systematized the grant of donation to make sure that the recipients really need the supplies and equipment that were given.
The club initially identified the prospective beneficiaries. The first step in the process is the formal request from the recipient organization detailing what specifically the organization really wants.
After evaluating the request, the club through a committee canvassed the equipment from known suppliers and purchased the same. The equipment and supplies were given to the officers of the organization in a formal turnover ceremony. The officers of the recipient organization signed an acknowledgement receipt. (R.Anlocotan)
