Land swapping
Unknown to many, Atty. Roming Gerochi has written Mayor Jerry Treñas to ask the national government for about five hectares of the 54-hectare Mandurriao airport property before it was sold to Megaworld Corporation. Gerochi then thought that the Mandurriao property could be a good site for the proposed Iloilo City Hall building. Unfortunately, Gerochi's idea was simply ignored by the chief executive. Now, the city is negotiating with Megaworld for a land swap – the latter to give the city an area for the city hall building in the Mandurriao property and the city to give Megaworld the old site of the city hall building in Plaza Libertad. Kanugon, kon namati lang tani si mayor kay Atty. Roming.
City college proposal
The proposal to put up a city college is indeed a noble project. The only problem is that the city government lacks funds for it. Maybe the proponents of this project need to really examine and study the viability of their proposal because it is difficult to engage in such a project when the city is not ready for it. Another thing is that the proponents should seriously lobby with the city mayor because ultimately it is the city chief executive who is the key to the project. Indi ni madala sa painitay sang ulo.
San Miguel's abortion road
Many people, especially those from San Miguel, Iloilo, are asking why the repair of their damaged road has not yet started. Department of Public Works and Highways earlier reported that there is already money (P27 million) intended for the repair works. Until now even a single equipment could not be seen in the area. Kinaray-a music
Kinaray-a songs composed and performed by Antiqueño artists are getting a good airtime from the city's top FM stations. This simply shows that the Kinaray-a compositions and music are also a hit among the Iloilo radio audience, majority of them incidentally also speak Kinaray-a. Congratulations to the men and women behind the success of Kinaray-a music! May you reach more heights.
