Sayson apologizes for Charter Day parade delay
BACOLOD CITY -- Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson apologized to the parade participants last Saturday because of the delay caused by uncontrollable human traffic in the highways.
Sayson, chairman of the 70th Charter Day Celebration, said they were not able to control the crowd in city streets anymore because of so many people going around especially those near in the plaza down to reclamation area despite the presence of traffic police and enforcers.
He received reports that some of the participants did not anymore went down to the reviewing stand in SM City Bacolod Bridgeway because their vehicles cannot pass smoothly while following the parade route.
But over-all Sayson assessed the celebration as very successful since in the morning, the awarding ceremony was witnessed by Bacoleños and visitors wherein no less than DILG Secretary Ronaldo Puno served as the guest speaker of Bacolod's birthday.
"The committee did not anticipate the very big number of people who blocked the road but for sure the situation would be considered in the next event like this," Sayson added.
GMA Kapuso stars like Angelica dela Cruz, Sunshine Dizon and JC Vera also graced the parade when they spoke in front of the crowd in the reviewing stand. They were welcomed by Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Sayson and the Sangguniang Panglungsod Members.
Sayson thanked each and everyone who participated in the grand parade like schools, students and teachers form different schools and commercial establishments.
He made a special mention to the floats of Provincial Capitol through Governor Isidro Zayco; City of Bais in Oriental Negros - Mayor Hector "Tata" Villanueva; Bago City - Mayor Monet Torres and town of Candoni through Mayor Cicero Borromeo.
