Doomed?
Typhoon Frank has long been over. Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD) has finished repairing its waterlines from source but still a lot of areas here in Iloilo City are suffering from lack or no water at all. Worst, water consumers are made to pay their minimum monthly dues though they get nothing from their faucets! This city has unstable power and the power rate is so high. Then there is lack of water. Maybe this city is doomed?
No effect
Last Wednesday night heavy rains poured in the city for almost three hours. As expected Brgy. Tanza-Esperanza became flooded. The flood waters even reached up to a portion of Rizal Street near the former Ceres Liner terminal. In short, the multi-million pesos spent for the repair of the drainage system in the area has no effect at all. Apparently, it was just a waste of people's money.
Special treatment
Passenger jeepneys from the southern line (Tigbauan, Guimbal, Miag-ao and San Joaquin) continue to enter the Iloilo Terminal Market passing through Baluarte, Molo. Is this not unfair with passenger jeepneys from other parts of the province? Why is it that Kagawad Tongtong Plagata can't limit these jeepneys to the Mohon terminal just like the others? What's the use of Perimeter Boundary Ordinance if these certain groups of jeepneys are allowed to enter the city? Is this not a special treatment?
Back to square one
It seems the plan to build the city hall on a wider place particularly in the Megaworld property in Mandurriao would no longer be possible. This after majority in the Sangguniang Panglungsod junked the deal with the property company following its move to increase the price of the lot they are offering to the city. In other words, it's back to square one for the city... it has to put up the city hall in its old site across Plaza Libertad.
