Bermejo saddened by TATC shootout
ROXAS CITY – City Mayor Vicente Bermejo expressed his condolences to the families of the two kids who were killed by stray bullets after a shootout occurred at the Teodoro Arcenas Trade Center (TATC) last week.
Bermejo likewise apologized for the bloody incident and assured that more police forces are already deployed in the public market to ensure the safety of market goers.
"I personally relay my condolence to Manuel and Carmelita Pelaez and Alfonso and Editha Soberano as well as to their respective families and I assure then of support from Roxas City government," Bermejo said.
Bermejo said that the city government already shouldered the hospitalization expenses of the victims to include fatalities such Jason Pelaez and Nicole Soberano who died in the cross fire.
On the other hand, 1st District Congressman Antonio del Rosario blamed Bermejo for the occurrence of the shootout.
Del Rosario, number one critic of Bermejo, accused the mayor of having hired goons to man the public market as security guards.
However, Bermejo denied that they are allowing casuals in the public market to carry firearms adding that they will answer what they have done.
"I do not tolerate casuals carrying firearms inside the public market," Bermejo said as he denied hiring goons at the public market.
