57-T Ceneco consumers to avail P500 subsidy
BACOLOD CITY – The billing division listed around 57,000 residential consumers of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) who can avail the P500 subsidy from the national government's program dubbed Pantawid Kuryente: Katas ng VAT, General Manager Sulpicio Lagarde said.
The cooperative will implement said program to all its covered areas which include: Bacolod, Bago, Silay and Talisay cities, and municipalities of Murcia and Salvador Benedicto.
"The subsidy will not be in the form of cash instead, Ceneco will be issuing a credit memo of P500.00 to all qualified residential member-consumers whose electric consumption is 100KWH and below based on the May 2008 billing," Lagarde stressed.
The subsidy shall be applied in the June 2008 and future billings until the full amount shall be consumed.
Lagarde said they are expecting the money from National Electrification Administration (NEA) to be deposited on Ceneco's account on the said month.
Pantawid Kuryente: Katas ng VAT is pursuant to the mandate of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, giving one-time subsidy to the poorest sector of society which will be implemented in order to help them pay their electric bills.
It is being implemented by all electric cooperatives in the country to help alleviate the plight of consumers who are reeling from the increase in prices of gasoline and basic commodities.
This program is implemented through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the National Electrification Administration (NEA), according to Lagarde.
