Mobile techno school launched
ROXAS CITY – A Mobile Technology School that was conceived to support the government's program to provide Filipinos especially the out-of-school youth with skills for gainful employment was launched October 22 in Panitan, Capiz.
The mobile school is a joint project of the Provincial Government of Capiz headed by Governor Victor Tanco, Capiz State University (CAPSU) headed by its president Dr. Editha L. Magallanes and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) provincial office headed by Provincial Director Victor Gallego.
The launching, held October 22 at the Dadivas Civic Center in Panitan town, was highlighted by the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) among CAPSU, provincial government of Capiz and TESDA. The signatories were Gov. Tanco, Magallanes and Gallego.
The municipality of Panitan, located 17 kilometers from this city, is the first beneficiary of the project through a skills training on Basic Arc Welding and Cosmetology and Beauty Tips. Fifty-two out-of-school youths have signed up for the training.
CAPSU will also bring the mobile school to other municipalities of the province and is readying trainings on other skills areas that have job opportunities for trainees.
Tanco said he worked out the realization of the mobile school with CAPSU as part of his development agenda to make education relevant to the community especially the youth who cannot afford to go to school but can be provided skills for employment and livelihood to help them improve their lives.
Panitan mayor Katherine Dequiña Belo welcomed the project since it will them an opportunity for her less-privileged constituents to acquire skills that can help them find jobs or engage in livelihood projects. (PIA-JSC)
