DPWH help desks in WV highways
The Regional Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has started to establish Assistance Desks in all major highways in Western Visayas to assist motorists during the observance of All Saints' and All Souls' Days.
DPWH 6 Director Rolando Asis, in compliance with the directive of Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane, instructed all the District Engineers in the region to activate oplan "Lakbay Alalay" program to ensure smooth travel of commuters who will be going back to their respective towns to be with their departed loves ones.
The Lakbay Alalay program will start on October 31 until November 3, 2008 which is anticipated to have the influx of motorists.
Asis said the Lakbay Alalay Assistance Desks in the region will be put up in strategic locations along the national highways of the different provinces, manned by DPWH district engineering personnel.
"Our Assistance Desk is ready to help motorists who need roadside assistance such as information on direction and even mechanical problems," said Asis. (PIA)
