City vet warns vs. illegal slaughtering of animals
ROXAS CITY – The City Veterinarian has warned residents against the slaughtering of animals without having been inspected by the city government.
City Veterinarian Dr. Dante Corros, in a letter, directed 47 village chiefs here to monitor and report to authorities illegal slaughtering of pigs, carabaos, goats and other animals.
Corros said any animal meat without having marked by the personnel of the city government assigned at the slaughter house shall be deemed as illegal and will be confiscated by the authorities.
It can be noticed that illegal meat is rampant not only in some areas in the city but also in Teodoro Arcenas Trade Center (TATC).
It was also learned that small scale businessmen slaughter their animals at their houses and sell to the public.
Corros said such practice is unsafe since the slaughtered animals does not undergo checking by the concerned government agency.
To recall, the recent shooting rampage in TATC was blamed on the illegal trade of meat.
