371 patients are up for minor, major surgeries
BACOLOD CITY -- The ALOHA Medical Mission of the St. Scholastica's Bacolod Alumnae Foundation, Inc. (SSBAFI) kicked of yesterday at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Memorial Provincial Hospital in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
A team of medical doctors based in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA arrived in the city yesterday for the 5-day medical mission, Nov. 9-14, 2008.
Jean Trebol, St. Scholastica's Alumnae Foundation, Inc. Executive Director and Vice President said there are 33 doctors from abroad who will perform the surgeries to 371 patients.
There are 145 patients who will undergo minor surgery and 226 major surgery.
There will be walk-in patients that they will accommodate too, she said.
The ALOHA Medical Mission is held every year.
This year, they came upon the invitation of Gov. Isidro P. Zayco.
Medical cases which will be treated include burn, cleft, Keloid, skin deformity, colostomy, gallbladder goiter/thyroid, mass/cyst, hernia, hemorrhoid, among others.
The patients are residents of Bacolod, E.B. Magalona, Hinobaan, Isabela, La Carlota, Manapla, Murcia, San Enrique, Silay, Sipalay and Talisay, Negros Occidental.
