BCPO chief's 'tour of duty' ends on Nov. 11
BACOLOD CITY – Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) chief Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar's tour of duty will expire on November 11, 2008.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia said he inquired with Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno for a possible extension of Quebrar's term, like what Gov. Isidro Zayco and provincial officials did to Senior Supt. Rosendo Franco of Neros Occidental Provincial Police Office, but Puno said as a policy, they do not encourage extensions.
With that, the mayor will follow the order as he waited for the possible list of recommendees from the PNP higher command.
"I have things in mind but I will reveal it the time I already chosen who is he," Leonardia added.
Meanwhile, Councilor Al Victor Espino, chairman of the Committee on Police Matters, said the council has not yet signified for Quebrar's possible extension like what the Provincial Board did to Franco by passing a unanimous resolution.
The councilor said the city now is in need of a more aggressive police leader who can work very well in solving crimes happening in Bacolod but he also justified that Quebrar is doing all his best to do his function.
Espino also denied that unsolved crimes in the city and the proliferation of hardened criminals who are doing illegalities are the reasons behind Quebrar's transfer.
Quebrar had served the Bacoleños for over two years now and it is normal in the Philippine National Office that after the said period, transfer should be made for better performance.
