Meanwhile, Governor Felipe Hilan Nava yesterday extended cash incentives to more than 530 teachers, school heads and district supervisors for making the island's Division in the top for two straight years. For this year, the provincial government released P600,000 for the incentives.
The incentive ranges from P1,000 to P2,500 depending on the level of participation of the recipients in making their schools in the top list. The incentive was sourced out from the Local School Board fund. Prior to the release, Nava sought the opinion of the Commission on Audit (CoA) to free him from any liability for disbursing the fund for cash incentives of teachers, school heads and district supervisors.
This year's incentive for performing schools and districts doubled from last year's P300,000. Nava is contemplating to further increase it to P1 million as more teachers are motivated of the scheme.
It is not the money alone that counts for the teachers and the school heads but the honor it brought to the province and their respective schools. The amount is very small. However, it is one way to appreciate the efforts of the teachers, said Nava.
