Furnitures for NGC up for delivery
BACOLOD CITY -- Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) Chairman Atty. Goldwyn Nifras confirmed yesterday that the winning bidder Comfac Corporation vowed to undertake partial delivery of furnitures at the New Government Center (NGC) within two weeks after they have signed all pertinent documents including the Notice of Award last week.
Nifras said that they are looking forward for the partial delivery of furnitures either this week or next week so that they could transfer to the New Government Center before the end of December. Comfac Corporation is the sole bidder with the bid amount of at least P49 million after passing all the eligibility requirements including financial bids.
On the other hand, Mayor Evelio Leonardia designated City Administrator Dr. Roger Balo to conduct an inventory of all furnitures and fixtures at the old City Hall. Balo who is on official leave until now is expected to resume his function on December 5, 2008.
Mayor Leonardia, in a press conference, said the city has two options wherein it could utilize the furnitures from the old City hall. He said one option is to sell the furnitures so that the city government could make use of the money.
Another plan is to donate some of the items to the barangays and various public schools in the city of Bacolod. He also clarified that if the city hall will transfer to the New Government Center, the office of the City Mayor will remain because there was a deed of donation between Luzurriaga Clan and the City Government. He cited that under the deed of donation, a city hall cannot revert back to the donor (Luzuriaga clan) if the City Mayor's Office, as a seat of power, is maintained in the site.
Meanwhile, Mayor Leonardia vowed to address the transportation route going to New Government Center for the convenience of the city government employees who will be holding offices there.
