Poem
One Saturday morning while brainstorming for what would be my topic for this week's issue, it came to a point where I said to myself, "What if I'll make a poem?" A poem that would mirror what's happening to Philippine political scenery, economic status, way of living, and of course the happenings around the world these past few months.
Enjoy reading this poem entitled...
Philippines
Philippines, my Philippines
The sufferings, trials and tribulations experienced
Spaniards occupied and molested country's bests
For three hundred more years to account
Until the time, Americans and Japanese controlled this land
The never ending suffering, just like a puppet following master's hand.
Philippines, Oh Philippines
Ruled by fourteen presidents, from Aguinaldo to Arroyo
1987 Constitution replaced Martial Law
Governing this land, still corruption on the go
From people power, to the ousting of prexy, to "I'm Sorry"
Name it, this county has it.
Philippines, why Philippines?
Foreigners go crazy to see its beautiful spots
Boracay Island, Mt, Apo, Chocolate Hills
Making these places well-known to the world
Underground river in Palawan ranks first on polls
As the new seven wonders updates its results.
Philippines, yes Philippines!
This country has the ZTE broadband deal controversy
The unstoppable question on GMA's credibility as prexy
The never-ending political mockery amongst our legislators
Charter change, freedom given to Teehankee
These are things that coat Philippine politics, can't you see?
Philippines...
We're rich in resources, we're poor in Science and Math
We top as the texting capital of the world
But we are still a third world country from then until now
Where do we go from here?
The future lies in our hands..
