IDFI releases initial subsidy of P270T to 9 tribes
The Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI) yesterday released an initial subsidy of P270,000 for nine participating tribes in the 2009 Dinagyang competition. The nine participating tribes are those tribes covered by the subsidy rules of the foundation.
A check with the foundation, showed that late yesterday afternoon an amount of P30,000 subsidy was released to participating tribes, namely, Taga Jaro, Ilonganon, Pag-Asa, Aninipay, Milagrosa (formerly Tribu Bariohanon); Binhi, Panaad, Atub-atub and Paghidaet.
In the foundation's ruling, tribes that landed first until the 10th place would receive a 100 percent subsidy. While, tribes that ranked 11 to 15th would receive 75 percent subsidy. The tribes are asking for their subsidy to compensate their expenses for their costumes and food expenses for their daily practice.
The P270,000 subsidy to the participating tribes is an initial subsidy from the foundation. Additional releases would be made to the participating tribes as soon as the city government releases its donation to the foundation.
The city through the mayor is asking the legislative body for the approval of P1.5 million donation to the foundation. The mayor increased the intended donation to the foundation as they find it hard to solicit sponsorships. The sponsorships for the yearly festival only comes in January, said Treñas.
Meanwhile, Tribu Molave, Bantu, Himal-us (Guimaras) and Panagat (Parianon) also expressed their intentions in joining next year's contest. They have submitted their requirements yesterday. There are already 13 tribes that registered to the committee on tribes of the foundation.
