Dad wants training for TF Botagoy members
BACOLOD CITY -- Sangguniang Panglungsod Member Alex A. Paglumutan recently passed a resolution calling for a training of the members of the anti-illegal slaughtering task force or Task Force Botagoy by the National Meat Inspection Services (NMIS).
Paglumutan said that the purpose of this move is to provide appropriate and proper procedures in implementing the ordinance most specifically with regard to apprehension and disposition of illegally slaughtered meat which did not pass the accredited slaughterhouse situated in Brgy. Handumanan.
He cited that under Section 447 of the Republic Act 7160 it provides "that the Sangguniang Panglungsod shall enact ordinances that shall regulate the sale of meat and other foodstuff for human consumption.
Paglumutan said the NMIS under the Department if Agrculture is the only agency tasked by the national government to provide technical training and assistance to all the Local Government Units (LGUs) where powers of "post and anti-mortem inspection" and all other-related slaughterhouses management and supervision are devolved into.
In last week's session Paglumutan along with SP Member Roberto Rojas also passed a resolution addressed to City Veterinarian Dr. Adelo Daroy to immediately submit a report to the Sangguniang Panglungsod, specifically to the SP Committee on Markets and Slaughterhouse, the status of operation relative to the conduct of the New Slaughterhouse at Brgy.
