Civil Engineers week starts today
BACOLOD CITY -- About 2,000 members of Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) and students of Civil Engineering in the province are expected to join the Civil Engineering Week starting today November 24 up to the 30th.
Engr. Jaime Javellana, Executive Vice-President of PICE Negros Occidental Chapter, in behalf of their President Engr. Lea Delfinado, said civil engineers in their week-long celebration in the province will again come together for the achievement of its common purpose for nation building.
The group will have a courtesy call to Mayor Evelio Leonardia at 9 a.m and a grand motorcade in the afternoon followed by opening program at SM City Bacolod Activity Center.
Bacolod City Vice-Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson will deliver his inspirational message during the opening.
Civil Engineering students from West Negros University, University of Negros Occidental Recoletos, Carlos Hilado Memorial State College – Talisay City and Fellowship Baptist College in Kabankalan City are also part of the activity.
Exhibits of PICE-NOC major accomplishments and projects will also be made available to the public at the mall.
PICE Secretary Engr. Arturo Badajos Jr., invited all its members and civil engineers in the province to join hands together highlighting their great role in the society in the modern world.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed Proclamation No. 1640 on October 8, 2008 declaring November 24 to 30, 2008 as Civil Engineering Week.
"I call upon all civil engineers and students to give observance of the week their full support," the proclamation said.
